Transatlantic, better than flying

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Breakaway

We had just sailed Transatlantic on the Crown Princess and disembarked in Southampton. A short taxi ride from the Ocean Terminal over to the City terminal was accomplished with minimal problems, and a 5 pound fare. Our arrival was early, about 10:00 AM and the baggage was tagged and went aboard without problems. The terminal was almost empty and boarding had not started. Our group consisted of 6 ...

Inaugural Transatlantic, Grade B-

I thought I'd share a mini-review of our experience on the Norwegian Breakaway's inaugural transatlantic cruise from Southampton to New York. It was fun to be among the first passengers on a clean new ship, but unfortunately NCL did not make the inaugural cruise special in any way. I'll offer general impressions, then address cabins/deck plans, dining, nightlife, entertainment, and ...

Wow! We had a fabulous time aboard the Norwegian Breakaway. This was our first cruise so did not know what to expect. It certainly lived up to our hopes and dreams. Thought cabin was nice and roomy (although reading on here it was smaller than other cruise lines). We did have a balcony and did think balcony was small (not cruised before so maybe same on other ships). Restaurants again found ...

Inaugural Cruise

This was the Norwegian Breakaway's inaugural cruise (but not her maiden voyage, since that was her first trip to Bermuda after arriving in New York.) So, it was much more of a final shakedown cruise than a new beginning. That said, it was a wonderful trip. The Breakaway fixed most of the issues I had with the Norwegian Epic (which we sailed in December 2012), and is a definite improvement. My ...

Inaugural Cruise - Norwegian Breakaway Transatlantic

Norwegian Breakaway This is a review of the Norwegian Breakaway's inaugural transatlantic cruise, April 30 - May 7, 2013. This review is written by someone who has cruised about 30 times mostly on RCCL, NCL, and Princess. The Breakaway is a brand new ship and this cruise marked its first week-long sailing with passengers. We expected many minor inconveniences, yet were pleasantly surprised ...

Disappointing

We were really excited to be taking the inaugural voyage of the Norwegian Breakaway from Southampton to New York this April but excitement led to let down as we boarded the ship and then throughout the voyage. 1st - the ship was clearly not ready for us. There was no program of the day's activities in the stateroom and the customer service desk said they had run out and no more would be printed. ...

BREAKAWAY BREAKS THE TRADITIONAL RULES

We joined the cruise for the unique opportunity to sail an inaugural Transatlantic cruise into New York. Embarkation was speedy and well organised. We found our way to our lovely elegant deck 9 cabin, nicely furnished in beiges and with touches of deep turquoise, set off by curved rosewood cabinetry. The bed was blissfully comfortable, and the bathroom well planned with good shower and pelnty ...

After 20+ cruises it's time to submit a review especially after reading all the whining about this cruise. We do not fly and normally sail with Princess and NCL. We sailed to Southampton via the Crown Princess for 2 weeks and it was delightful. The day we arrived in Southampton we transferred to the Breakaway for the 7 day T/A to NYC. This ship is amazing. The entertainment is outstanding. We ...

I have just returned from a transatlantic cruise on the new Norwegian Breakaway. Here is a summary of my experience and personal opinion. First of all I made the mistake of booking direct with NCL which turned out to be a lengthy nightmare (eventually got sorted after numerous long distance phone calls) wont be doing that again , will book with a travel agency in future. Check in at ...

An introduction to Breakaway - Inaugural transatlantic

This was my 11th cruise, 4th with NCL and 3rd Transatlantic crossing. After sailing NCL Epic 3 times and being a solo traveller wishing to visit New York as soon as the itinerary details were released I booked this cruise before most of the ship was even revealed. I can't help comparing with the Epic as that's my most recent and nearest match to Norwegian Breakaway. I'd selected a Studio ...
