My husband & I took a taxi and arrived earlier than our check in time at Southampton and our luggage was taken from us by the porters there. After a short wait having priority boarding we were called to the embarkation desk for passport checking and then security. We then boarded the ship and were able to go straight to our cabin where our luggage was already waiting. We were on deck 14 a balcony ...

Grand Princess 11/3-17/2012 Transatlantic Crossing Pre-cruise. We had planned on leaving from JFK on Tuesday October 30th on American Airlines 142, a daytime flight to London Heathrow. With the impending arrival of Hurricane Sandy into the New York area around that time, we considered alternative flights leaving earlier. American Airlines did not open no-fee rebooking until Friday Oct 26th when ...

We are Platinum members who decided to take our third Princess cruise this year, this being on the Grand Princess voyage A232, Cabin A508, 14 day cruise for our 45th Wedding Anniversary. We received several emails telling us how beautiful the Grand Princess was after their refurbishment. Needless to say, we did not find the same, but instead have had more problems than on any other Princess ...

We have never been on cruise in which we've had a bad time. Cost & value is always a consideration for us and we rarely pay for any optional services or meals onboard. We treat the ship as a floating hotel and book based mainly on itinerary. While we had a good time, comparison to last years cruise always came up for us. When reading reviews I realize they are opinions and to decipher how they ...

More of a tattered Princess than a Grand Princess

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Grand Princess

Joined ship in Southampton. This was our first trip with any Princess ship. Experienced long delays mainly at security prior to boarding. We had a balcony cabin on Aloha Deck. We found the accommodation cramped in comparison to Cunard ships which we have travelled on prior to this cruise. Storage space was at a premium. We found the electrical outlets unsuitable for use if using more than ...

Enjoyed our first Transatlantic but needs improvement

First of all, we did enjoy our cruise, especially the time spent in ports. However, of all the cruises we have taken this was the one that needs the most improvement. Embarkation: We took the Princess transfer from Victoria Coach Station. Our information said to get there between 11am - 11:30am with the coach leaving at noon. When we arrived at 11am it was already extremely crowded and we ended ...

Review for a Canary Islands Cruise on Grand Princess

This was our second Princess cruise and fourth over all. Food, Service and Entertainment was up to the usual cruise standards so I won't go into detail on these aspects of the cruise. Main points that I would like to make to assist readers are: Embarkation at Southampton was appalling - almost two hours to get aboard due to a late start to boarding (not until 12.30) and very slow security ...

my first cruise was on the grand princess in 2009 since then I have cruised six times mostly with royal Caribbean. the grand had under gone a make over since my first cruise it was ok but not spectacular the main thing that stuck out was the lack of hygiene, on rci you cannot move for handwash stations and staff encouraging you to wash your hands, when boarding the ship and entering food area ...

Not so Grand...some serious maintenaince needed

Review for a Canary Islands Cruise on Grand Princess

We chose this cruise as we had not been to any of the Canary Islands before or to Lisbon. We had also not sailed from Southampton. We chose this cruise in preference to the April sailing because it also visited Lisbon in addition to the Canary Islands. Our transport to the Grand Princess, using Eavesway Travel, albeit at our own expense, was flawless and efficient. We can highly recommend this ...
