I didn't want to fight the lobster, so asked for it without the shell. Nothing was a problem.

Just some of the anniversary celebrations. We were overwhelmed.

Excellent food, service and cabin, but lots of black soot towards the stern of the ship
"The ship experienced electrical problems with one of the propulsion units leaving Mahon which resulted up being anchored off Minorca for nearly 8 hours while the ship’s engineers worked on it.00 and were advised that we only had a couple of hours on shore before the ship was due to sail at 20...."Read More

Treated ourselves to a deluxe cabin

This was our 5th cruise with Saga and the 2nd this year in 2023. For this voyage we had breakfast in our room or the balcony as we had the space and so missed the chaotic crowds in the restaurants. Everyone for some reason wants to eat at 09.30 even though the place closes shortly after. If you go earlier it is a lot easier. When at a destination, we know when the others are getting off ...

A nice gentle cruise in better weather than the UK!

We felt we needed a break after some unwelcome medical issues and settled on this, our second, Saga cruise just recently. We were again on Sprit of Discovery - and Captain Darin Bowland was again in command. We always feel that the Captain sets the tone for any cruise and it was obvious that the Captain was well liked by his crew which meant that everything was relaxed and well organised. The ...

The cruise was called "A Taste Of The Continent". My husband and I have enjoyed another wonderful cruise on the Spirit Of Discovery. This was our 5th cruise on this lovely ship. I have not reviewed this ship before but the quality of this cruise necessitated that I review. We were collected from home by a chauffeur who looked like he had walked out of a Saville Row window, so incredibly smart. He ...

Our first Saga cruise: lacking the 'wow' factor

We have just returned from our first Saga cruise on the Spirit of Discovery – 14 days round trip from Dover, departing on 17th August 2022, calling at St Peter Port, La Rochelle, Bordeaux, La Coruna, Gijon, Santander and Brest. Although this was our first cruise with Saga we consider ourselves seasoned cruisers with many trips over the last 18 years, including Celebrity, Princess, Azamara, ...

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Spirit Of Discovery

This was our first time on any Saga holiday and we both agreed that 'Spirit of Discovery' and the whole Saga experience is impressive. And the voyage was pretty spectacular too. We had a ‘Standard Twin’ cabin which was more than adequate. We didn’t like not being able to switch off the ‘night light’ in the bathroom, or the lack of a settee, but it was very quiet with soft-closing drawers and more ...

A wonderfully fulfilling lifetime experience.

We chose this cruise because we have travelled with SAGA before, know and trust the company and because we very much wanted to enjoy the experience of seeing Greenland again in a degree of comfort. Boarding was smooth and efficient at Dover, although it took about an hour... but for 50 mins of that time we were in the luxury our chauffeur driven SUV. The welcome on board the Spirit of Discovery ...

This was our first cruise with Saga, having only done one other cruise on the Queen of Elizabeth to Norway nearly 3 years ago. Once we had navigated through the covid tests the welcome aboard was excellent with a crew member showing us to our cabin. We had booked a standard cabin on D deck which was fine although we could have done with more drawer space. The stewardess who looked after some of ...

Fantastic service staff, excellent food and wine, filthy aft decks

We chose the cruise to try out the newish Saga vessel for a cruise to the Med in good weather with several interesting ports of call all of which the cruise provided. While the crew, food wine were excellent the experience was badly let down by the fact that the open aft decks were for much of the time filthy with greasy black soot spots. It didn't seem to matter what the wind direction /speed the ...

We sailed on the beautiful Spirit of Discovery on the 27th of April on the 15 night “Baltic Ensemble” cruise. We were collected from home using Saga‘s marvellous chauffeur service. The vehicle was spotlessly clean and the driver confirmed that he had taken a Covid test that morning and was negative leaving us feeling a little safer. The chauffeur was very attentive and informed us that we could ...

Saga Cruises have been on my radar for a while now. I have visited Saga Sapphire and overnighted on Saga Pearl II but my friend and I both felt we weren’t ready for the Saga experience at the time. However, the launch of the first of their two brand new ships, coupled with some health issues that forced the cancellation of a very long cruise earlier in the year, saw me booking a 10 night cruise on ...
