Loved Koningsdam

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Koningsdam

It was our 5th cruise on Holland. We had been sailing Royal since pandemic, but got a casino offer from Holland. We've always enjoyed Holland and this gave us a chance to get our foot in the door. We booked Club Orange and were not disappointed. Booked Have It All, probably not do in future, we get drinks in casino. We were worried after posts said drinks were only for 1 person, but they were ...

Not a great experience

12 years ago we started our first cruise with this line (to Norway) and we loved it , after few cruises with other lines we decided to go back to Holland America , because of our first good experience with them. This time we were unpleasantly surprised that for 12 years the standards have dropped significantly , instead of improving. On the first minute of the cruise we were very disappointed to ...

Horrible Cruise Saved by the Eclipse

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Zaandam

The only thing that saved this cruise was the eclipse. This was my third cruise with HAL in three years 2 were on the Eurodam and then this one. I loved my other 2 cruises but this one really soured me on cruising. Confusing info: We received an email about boarding times which had people instructed to board at 3pm which was all aboard time. It was revised to 2:30. I’m sure this contributed to ...

Flawless

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Koningsdam

Another flawless dash down to Mexico and back home, and now some fresh feedback for the Bridge, as well as words for future guests. First, the staff of course. Predictably, guests are treated like gold; food is varied and superior to anything our party generally enjoys while home-bound; services from pingpong scholarship to spa, from massage to informing linedance tendencies... All of it, ...

Nice ship, very good service. So-so entertainment.

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Koningsdam

Very nice ship, with lots of space per passenger, and quiet places to sit with views of the water. Very good service in cabin and restaurants. Disappointing entertainment; Lincoln Center no longer offered, and main stage entertainment was mediocre. Boarding process was uncomfortable, due to 2 ships at pier in San Diego, forcing us to wait 1.5-2.5 hours in the cold, rainy weather until we ...

An average cruise which could have been better

Review for a Asia Cruise on Westerdam

Overall a very mediocre cruise - nothing special Cruised with Holland America 10 years ago and it's not as good then. The points: 1) We were also charged for Crew Appreciation even though our Have It All package booked through IGLU stated this was included. It was only removed after we queried this with Guest Relations, although we did tip the cabin staff personally. 2) During the cruise, ...

Poor standard and organisation

We’re do I start, this our first cruise and our last with Holland America. First the good, outside cabin good with great steward; have it all package good value and Wi-Fi actually worked throughout the ship. Specially dining was excellent. Band in the rolling stone lounge excellent but that’s about it. Dining in the main venues was an experience to be missed. Lack of organisation and it appeared ...

Great trip, but you're going to get sick

Review for a South America Cruise on Oosterdam

Good crew, great route, good excursions, good food, but HAL does not protect the health of its passengers. So many sick people by the time we reached the middle of our 31-day cruise. Packed into the mainstage theatre shoulder to shoulder, it was a chorus of sick people coughing and hacking. Both of us got sick for over a week and most of the people we met on the ship were also sick with the ...

So much respiratory illness onboard

On the positive side, the crew are excellent. Cabin stewards, waiters, food servers and front desk attendants are patient, polite and helpful. The food is Ok but not as good as pre-Covid. The lecture/education part of the cruise seems to have been abandoned by Holland America. We used to see it as university-of-the-seas but no longer. Entertainment is also OK but well reduced in quality. One ...

Great 31 day South American cruise

Review for a South America Cruise on Oosterdam

We had a great cruise! This was our second time on Holland America, we've been on several cruise lines including one of those "6 star luxury" lines and Holland is our top 2. The crew is absolutely the best, they are so friendly and always happy and taking care of the passengers. The food overall is very good and even after 31 days we were still enjoying it. We mainly had meals in the main dining ...
