My background:
47, Family of 4, cruised on NCL, RCL, and MSC
embarkation and disembarkation
This was the smoothest part of the trip. Literally, it was the easiest I have ever seen on any cruise line. Everything is very orderly!
service
good, nothing to write home about, very typical except in the dinning room where none of the staff seemed to know where tables were located and ...
This is my 12th cruise and was excited to cruise Holland America as we had heard and read positive things.
Ship: Average decor. The ship interior is very dark except in the crows nest.
Cabin was nice with plenty of storage. Cabin stewards were excellent.
I don't know much about stabilization, but this ship had a lot of movement. At night it felt like someone was jumping on the bed ...
This 7 dy cruise was an anniversary cruise. Oct 21 thr 28th, 2023. The ship stayed at ft, lauderdale for 2.5 dys before the capt. Finally sent out a msg saying seaweed had clogged one of the engines, and we should be sailing later that evening so that was the reason that we were still docked? While the ship is still at port the casino can't open, stores aren't open. We were supposed to go to ...
We chose HAL because we sailed with them 10+ years ago and it was great then. Unfortunately it has changed a lot and this has been the most disappointing vacation in 43 years. We missed 2 out of 4 ports due to ship being docked for maintenance. And one stop is just the private island owned by Carnival and HAL and the stop at Grand Turk was hugely disappointing as it was only Americanized tourist ...
Ship limped it's way back into Fort Lauderdale just ahead of our cruise. Then we found out we would be staying 2 full days in Fort Lauderdale. We also found out that 2 of our most anticipated ports were then cancelled San Juan, Puerto Rico, and St. Thomas USVI. Our time on Grand Turk was cut from 7 hours to just over 4. Holland America (HAL) did add another stop instead - Nassau, Bahamas - ...
This was cruise #7 for us; however, our first with HAL. This was our least favorite of the cruise lines on which we have sailed. Specifically, reasons include, boring/lack luster entertainment, lack of on board activities and poor selection of food choices in dining room. We wanted to have a table for 2; did not want to share. We were made to feel that this was an imposition and unreasonable. ...
Awful! We had so many issues too numerous to name on this ship. We have said on 7 cruises and this was by far the worst. Seaview pool is not adults only. kids were there. Drink package...we had a hard time getting refills. Only until 10 at night, after that only after 6am. Ridiculous service at the bar areas. no hair dryer in the balcony cabins. had to ask for 1, took 2 days to get one. Dated ...
We had an opportunity to sail so inexpensively, I simply couldn't say no. Honestly, we had two inside cabins for two weeks at a total cost of $256, plus taxes and gratuities. On top of that, we received credits totaling over $400. None of that is a misprint.
So it's hard to be hard on HAL. I'm not "that guy" - I almost never, ever write negative reviews. But ...
I'll start with the positive. ...
We were on the Rotterdam VII for 21 Days (January 25 to Feb 15) for the Seafarer & Wayfarer Collector Cruise. Let me first say that:
I waited to write this for a month - so, I could consider all the issues that we had dispassionately. I’ve tried to be as hones as possible - hopefully it doesn’t come off as some sort of “get off my lawn” rant….
We are 4-Star Mariners - these were our ...
We purchased a Neptune suite in the rear corner, so we had good all-round views and a large veranda. The only thing that was good about this expensive cruise were the workers on board. Very good people.
Cabin - Large but many issues listed below.
Food - Good at start but got worse over the trip. The specialty restaurants were much better than the public ones.
Entertainment - Similar all ...
