This was our families 8th cruise and I don't typically leave reviews but I had seen such poor reviews for this particular ship I felt that I should leave my feedback. We chose the Magnifica mostly because of the itinerary (embark Southampton, Le Havre, Brugges, Amsterdam, Hamburg) and the long amount of time it stays in port. We are Americans so we flew from NY into London a few days early so we ...
The common themes across many MSC reviews couldn't be more accurate. We sailed the Magnifica in September 2018 on the North Sea visiting England, Scotland, Germany, France and Amsterdam.
The common themes that are absolutely true - the European crowd (vast majority of passengers) is generally rude, loud and obnoxious. The food, especially on the buffet, varies between bland and tasteless and ...
WE didn't choose it. we went through an agent.. The inspection is on the ship MSC. In a word no.
First tip the money they charge for each day and call it a tip for the occult staff (10 Euros per person per day) is not mandatory to pay - only if you want. I asked the crew the money does not arrive to the team of cooks, reception clerks, etc., it remains in the hands of the company. The ...
English friends chose the line and the cruise although after reading the reviews (prior to the cruise), I'm not sure why. Now that the cruise is over, I'm really, really happy that they chose MSC and the Magnifica! Our cruise was the 12 day from Southampton to Le Havre, France then on to Spain and then back to France and on to the Netherlands and Germany.
Let's start with the embarkation and ...
The good
* getting on the ship - fast and easy.
The bad
* service onboard was terrible - had to wave down staff to get their attention
* the food was below average
* most of the staff could not speak english - bar staff, restaurant staff, etc.Made it very difficult to communicate a drink or food order
* the entertainment was bad
* many, many hard sell tactics to get you to buy ...
Looked like a good deal for the money.
1. First excursion was cancelled, did not find out until 10 pm day before
I had to go and ask where was the tickets for the excursion on my own and person at the desk was not too helpful, end of her shift
2. Passports taken at time we first boarded and were advised would be given back in 3 days for France. Go to meeting location for France ...
I will start at the beginning.
It was my husband and I travelling
Our check in time was 13.45 hours, but we thought we would try our luck at we arrived at 12 noon. When we arrived they were making people wait in the first area of the cruise terminal, not in the departure lounge. It was announced to make sure you had your tickets and passport ready, so everyone started to queue, thinking ...
I chose this cruise as part of a 2 week Spring Break vacation and traveled with my best friend. This was my 13th cruise and I have definitely enjoyed all of them, this was no different.
Embarkation and Cabin
We embarked in Hamburg and arrived at the port at about 11:30 am, and essentially walked right onto the ship. We were sitting in the Tiger Bar by 12:00 pm and weren't hungry (ate a ...
We chose this mini cruise for the Easter Weekend and were keen to visit Hamburg. The time spent in Hamburg was great and we were looking forward to a leisurely trip back to Southampton. Embarkation was a joke 2.5 hours of total chaos with no apparent management in attendance. Having cruised many times we know that we would be required to attend the mandatory drill, however there were no ...
We booked a 3 day leg of this cruise to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. We had a terrible time and MSC succeeded in ruining what should have been a landmark celebration. There were 18 in our party and we have a long list of issues we have taken up with MSC, which includes:
- Almost 4 hours to board the ship at Hamburg - no water, no assistance, we had a 4, 6, 8 and 71 year olds in our ...
