Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Mariner of the Seas

So my wife and I decided to take a 7 day cruise to Belize, Roatan and Cozumel for a delayed honeymoon for the summer of 2014 (I can't recall the exact date but it was before June of last year). I heard Royal Caribbean was a more upscale cruise line as compared to Carnival so we went with the Mariner with the Seas. It was recently renovated and it showed. Arrival and embarkation was a breeze. Our ...

I had sailed on RCL 2 previous times and had been very pleased with my experience. However, this cruise was not to be a repeat of the previous ones. I have not sailed from Galveston before so I can't say that my embarkation experience was unusual but definitely unlike previous ones. We stood in the sun for about 40 minutes before we were able to get into the building and then about another 1.5 ...

NOT UP TO RCCL STANDARDS

We've been on many RCCL cruises and have always had a great time. This cruise was not up to RCCL standards. The ship, cabin, and cabin steward were great. The problem came with the entertaiment, cruise director and staff, and last but certainly not least, the food. Let me say, the Ice Show was EXCELLENT. The absolute highlight of all the entertainment We always look forward to the nightly ...

We drove down from West, Texas on Saturday and stayed at the Super 8 in Kemah and would not recommend that hotel at all. While we were out for dinner someone came into our room and used our bathroom and the front desk would do nothing about it also our dead bolt would not work. We had to stack our suitcases in front of the door just for a little protection, but enough about that. We arrived at ...

Well, we entered the Port of Galveston on Sunday, April 7, 2013 to an episode of what can only be defined as CHAOS. Disorganized, people scrambling, long lines, no sense of any real organization (foot traffic or vehicle traffic) other than a lot of people barking orders and no one really knowing what the heck was going on. Our luggage was taken quickly, but as we were waiting in what seemed like ...

We booked a cruise package for this trip - our first time to do this. This included flights, transfers, hotel and the 15 night cruise. It was excellent value for money. The flight was from London Heathrow and took over 10 hours. The hotel, being in the airport, was most welcome. The embarkation went smoothly after a delayed departure from the Marriott at George Bush Airport. The ship was undergoing ...

Days at sea Great

Booked in to a Best Western in Galveston and did not get a wink of sleep because of the room next door. This was my first time to have an interior room but ended up loving it. Very quiet and dark, which I like for sleeping, but the only draw back is waking up and wondering is it am or pm. I loved the days at sea. All the people on board were around my age. Unfortunately I ate most of my meals ...

Mariner Western Caribbean from Galveston

We just returned from our Royal Caribbean cruise on Mariner of the Seas. It is our understanding that Mariner will be leaving Galveston and going to Asia in two weeks and Navigator will be replacing it in Galveston. This is going to be a good change, and there are so many things that are alike on both ships, that there will still be the same care and concern for its passengers. We drove in ...

Embarkation- Computers broke down during the middle of embarkation, it would have been nice for them to keep us updated other than that the line moved very quickly. Cabin- Perfect. I like sleeping in cold, dark, and quiet which makes an interior stateroom perfect for me. Our room steward was excellent although not very personable. I loved the towel animals and he even made me a few when it ...

We left out of Galveston, not too bad getting on board once we got through the line for security. We were in a JS so got to move to front of line to receive sea pass. Got on board and found our cabins. Met our stateroom attendant immediately. Willy was very helpful and answered all our questions. He was always available and attentive to our needs. Ate all evening meals in the MDR. Our waiter ...
