Currency & Best Way to Get Money?
The local currency is the Omani rial. Remember, Oman does not use the same currency as Abu Dhabi or Dubai, which is a common mistake many travelers make. Khasab boasts ample ATMs and banks near the New Souk roundabout and along the main street (look for HSBC, Oman National Bank and Muscat Bank). Plus, you can exchange money at the same banks during weekdays.
Language?
Arabic is the primary language spoken in Khasab and the rest of the Middle East. However, English is also widely spoken among tour guides and shop owners, especially in the bigger cities. Khasab doesn't see that many tourists, though, so come prepared with a translator or an app so you can easily negotiate prices or arrange tours.
