Home of the crystal which bears its name, Waterford is located in Southeastern Ireland and was discovered by Vikings in 914 A.D., making it the oldest city in the country. While Waterford is a well-developed destination when cruising to Ireland, it's also still possible to see ruins of its ancient Viking civilization throughout the city as well as at its museums such as the Museum of Treasures.
Ancient history aside, there are plenty of sights and activities for cruisers to experience in Waterford, from a day at the beach swimming and snorkeling below the sandstone cliffs, to sailing, kayaking and paddleboarding. If you'd prefer something a little less active, be sure to visit the House of Waterford Crystal for exquisite ornaments and "The Cliff" shopping center where you can peruse goods and souvenirs crafted by local artisans.
