One Ocean Expeditions

About One Ocean Expeditions Cruises

Though the line has not officially declared itself out of business, One Ocean has ceased operation for the forseable future. One Ocean Expeditions is a small-ship polar cruise specialist offering wilderness and wildlife experiences in the Antarctic, Canadian and Norwegian Arctic, and along the Canadian Atlantic seaboard. Voyages combine expedition activities and sightseeing with onboard fitness and wellness offerings.

Who goes on One Ocean Expeditions cruise ships?

Most of One Ocean Expeditions passengers are active and adventurous over-50s travelers, from North America, the United Kingdom, Australia and Switzerland. Many sailings have a sprinkling of 30 and 40-year olds and a few families, as well. Travelers include couples, groups of friends and singles. There is no minimum age limit, but it is recommended kids be 10 and up to fully appreciate the cruise.

Do I have to dress up on a One Ocean Expeditions cruise?

The dress, including at meals, is casual as is typical of expedition cruises.

Is everything free on One Ocean Expeditions cruises?

Most shore excursions and all Zodiac rides are included. One Ocean Expeditions provides jackets, rain pants and rubber boots for your use during the cruise. You'll pay extra for sea kayaking, alcoholic drinks, gratuities, limited email access and massages.

What are One Ocean Expeditions’s most popular activities?

The no. 1 activity for One Ocean Expeditions' passengers is Zodiac excursions, followed closely by hiking, photography and even camping. Many passengers opt to participate in the line's optional (and extra-cost) sea kayaking or stand-up paddle-board programs, as well.

When the ship is sailing, you'll find most passengers on the ship's large upper decks, which offer 360-degree visibility and are ideal for wildlife spotting. At other times, cruisers prefer to stay indoors for the expedition staff's informative enrichment lectures. On chilly days, passengers also enjoy soaking in the hot tub (only on select ships) or participating in daily yoga and fitness sessions.

Why go with One Ocean Expeditions?

Exceptional wildlife and cultural experiences guided by a passionate expedition team

Best for: Travelers wanting an active polar experience with awesome wildlife spotting who don't need luxury amenities

Not for: Anyone looking for big ship comforts, multiple restaurants, casinos or nightclub action
