First cruise! What a disappointment. First of all I felt the service was wonderful. Our cabin Stewart, Francis was wonderful. Our dinner server Marichu was fabulous. I guess my expectations were high which is why I'm disappointed with this cruise. Being on a ship for two consecutive days, I would have liked there to be more to do. The first day we sat out in the sun. The pools are very small. The pool is more like a place to cool off and get out. Forget about swimming. There are two bars on either side of the pool. If you like to drink, you'll be fine. The food is near the pool too. Enjoy! I'm not much of a drinker. if your a first time cruiser, pack a refillable drink container with you. You can fill it with lemonade and keep it with you. I did buy the soda package. I used it, but probably didn't need it. Take some kind of lanyard with you as well. You need to put your key in something and have it close by. Thank God for the kids club! My daughter would have been very bored without it. Make sure you utilize this if you have kids. My daughter didn't want to leave. At one point i wanted to stay too. I found the best part of the whole ship was the serenity deck. It's peaceful and it has shade. The food! Well, it's good. Not great. There isn't much of a variety on a daily basis. Yes I am picky. I can say that. After 3 days in a row I couldn't have steak again. I was shocked to see meatloaf on the menu one night. Each night I had shrimp cocktail, steak with a baked potato and warm chocolate melting cake for dessert. We ate in the same dining room each night. Our service was amazing. Breakfast was always the same. I did enjoy the omelet stations. The late night pizza was terrible. Get to the grill before it closes for a sandwich. They were good. We did one excursion and that was on st. Kitts. It was the Dolphin excursion. We loved every minute of it. Wish it was longer. I didn't want to get out of the water. The entertainment on the ship was weak. The shows only lasts door a half hour. We did enjoy the illusionist. The comedians were ok, but only 30 minute shows. I expected more. The activities were almost non existent. The welcome show by the staff was exciting, but that was it. Dr. Seuss is a character on board that was a highlight for my daughter. We enjoyed the breakfast we had, but I don't think we should have had to pay extra for it. Even though it was $5 extra per person. We did enjoy the movies by the pool. All too many times you couldn't find a seat, but keep trying. That was a highlight of the trip. The pictures. Of course you want them all. Each time you buy a picture, you earn something. Afte r3,6,10. I ended up with 10 pictures. Be prepared to get one taken as you walk off the ship at each port, dinner, extra places on the ship. This cruise forced me to relax! I was bored. I read three books, and took a nap almost each day. Most likely I won't cruise again. This was t for me. Read Less

The entertainment was limited. Nothing started for the adults until 9. The comedy club was not open for 2 nights in a row, so they were really crowded.....The piano bar is not worth even trying. It was the same style music throughout the entire time. The piano players name is Skip and that is totally what I would do. He was really rude both nights I went. Many other passengers were talking about how rude he was though out the week.....The food was NOT good in Rosies café... The pizza was awful...Guys burger place was good, the fries were over done but the burgers where great. The burrito place was good.. Had it not been for those two I would have not eaten anything but bad food the entire time. I kept going back to the buffets hoping for anything worth while. It never happened. Blah is the best way to describe their food. The staff was awesome except for Skip. But overall I really liked their staff. They were friendly, helpful, funny, and a pleasure to be around. Milos was hands down the best bartender we came across. The cucumber sunrise was this trips saving grace. Read Less

This was a 1st cruise for us. We are in our 40s and our kids (8 of them) are slowly leaving the house 1 by 1. We have 1 left and she is a senior this year. My DH does not like to travel. He is an introvert. He hates to fly, has a bad back and driving for extended periods is uncomfortable for him. We went in to get a haircut together in August 2015 and our hairdresser mentioned she and her husband were going on a cruise. After telling us about it, she invited us to come along. My DH said YES! Well, you didn’t have to tell me twice! I’m an extrovert and love to travel! We got her information and looked it up online when we got home. A balcony suite on Deck 8 in the middle. We called Carnival and booked a 7 day cruise from Port Canaveral on the Valor. I am a researcher of things that interest me, so I started looking for cruise information. I talked to my parents, who are avid cruisers (never thought to ask why they never invited us). We purchased Faster to the Fun! This is very much worth the $49 to get priority embarkation, debarkation and on/off the boat faster for shore excusions. Having no idea what to expect, we over packed. Got the sea sickness patch, JIC. We parked in an offsite gated lot from 528 Port Cruise Parking in Canveral & took a shuttle to the port. We boarded the boat and were in our cabin in less than 25 minutes! We did not spend any time in Orlando (we spent 4 years in South FL) and there really wasn't anything we wanted to see/do before leaving on the boat, or heading home. Our cruise was to Cozumel, Honduras, Belize, and Costa Maya. We planned some shore excursions through the boat and a few others through independent groups. We did a dolphin swim in Cozumel (the highest rated of all the ports we were visiting) and it was awesome! We are parrot owners and wanted to see parrots in the wild, so we booked excursions in Belize and Honduras that allowed that. Banana Bank in Belize was amazing (this was not available on the boat)! We did not get to port in Costa Maya as the water was too choppy and unsafe to port so we ended up with an extra sea day. We booked the Steak House for a $35 PP up charge. Not really worth the price in our opinion. The food in the dining room is equally as good and already included. We had 3 couples massages in the spa ... we could LIVE in the spa! We had early dining and saw a few movies on the boat, caught a few shows, played Bingo. Recommend early dining as late dining tends to interfere with the evening shows. We had a great experience and hence caught the cruising fever! We have booked 4 more cruises since then! The staff was excellent! Our cabin steward superb! I think one of the best things about cruising is that you don’t have to do anything. You get up when you want to, go to bed when you want to, eat when you want it. No one cares. You just get to relax. We truly did not want this vacation to end. We wanted to live on the boat! Read Less

Clean, good safe ports, excellent service. The kids loved the ice cream machines. The lemonade and coffee was always good. Enjoyed Fish and Chips. Found it the last couple days. Didn't wait to eat at late seating dining room. 8:15 was too late for young children to eat. We should of signed up for 6:00 right away. That time slot was full. Rented a cabana at margaritaville grand Turk. Good choice for a tired family. Mostly used it to store our stuff while we hung out at the beach. Food at margaritaville is over priced. Our bill for some chips and a couple drinks and sodas. $110.00. Wait staff gets an automatic %15 yet begged for more. I would skip eating and drinking there. Favorite port stop was San Juan. Walked to Pier 2 and boarded the aqua Ferry for .50 then caught a taxi bus for 6.00 to Bacardi Rum at the yellow taxi terminal. Toured the historic tour for $12.00. Great drink and information. Back for another 6.00 and Ferry for another .50. After that we walked old San Juan and hiked to the fort. The Forts are National Parks. Always felt safe in Old San Juan. We enjoyed our Cruise and recommend to our friends. Choose a cruise that offers good port stops. Read Less

This was our first cruise. We traveled with our daughters family which included 4 children. The youngest is 5. The staff at carnival helped us along the way to be comfortable right from the moment we walked up to the check in desk to the last moment we walked the final gangway. Our room steward took time to talk to us everyday and share about his own life back home. He knew our names on the first day. Same thing during our diner in the Washington dining hall. Our waiter knew what the children wanted by the second day. Like a baked potato everyday with sour cream and bacon. And a bowl of fresh grapes when there wasn't any to be seen anywhere else. All we had to do was ask. The inner stateroom on the first deck was clean, comfortable and roomy even for 4 people. It helped to keep everything in the big closets. We slept soundly to the humming of the big engines. The food was always fresh, and available. We ate buffet style at Rosie's most of the time and had room service breakfast once on a busy port day. The omelets and bacon are our favorites. Also found Fish and Chips one day for fresh crispy fries and wonderful seafood treats. The dining hall experience was delightful with the waiters and fancy choices. I highly recommend dressing up a little and enjoy the experience. After or before diner are some really good shows and comedians. We took in a couple of them. There is so much to do. Something for everyone. This trip had the best port days. Amber Cove,St. Thomas,San Juan,And Grand Turk. At St. Thomas we booked an excurtion to snorkle with sea turtles. It was a pretty short and crowded trip. Everyone seemed to be having a good time, but for the cost of it I expected more. After that excurtion,we got in a open air taxi and asked the driver to take us to a recommended little beach, Morning Star, next to the Marriet Hotel. It was private and so perfect for our family. Our taxi driver even waited for us to finish swimming and took us back to our cruise ship on time. I could go on and on how wonderful this cruise is for all ages. Read Less

This was my first cruise and my hubby's second. We were very excited since we don't do much traveling and this was a big adventure for me. We met friends in Orlando, FL for a couple of days and it was an amazing time followed by a week on the Valor. The ship was nice, staff was outstanding, very attentive and friendly. Fellow passengers were friendly as well. At each port we got off, we enjoyed. Found the "excursions" to be pricey so the 4 of us just headed off ourselves with no problems. Our room was on 1 port on the inside. We will never get an inside room again since as soon as you were in there you lost all track of time because there were no windows or visual clock (now we know, but not anyones fault, amateur mistake). Every night there was a surprise towel animal on our bed. Quite fun! Room was always well kept and clean. The food was "okay". We ate breakfast and lunch on the Lido deck. Unfortunately after one port there were a lot of flies that were getting on the food but prior to that the selection was good. Dinner was in the Washington. A good selection that should have been fine for anyone. A "standard" menu side (same every night) and then a menu "of the night" on the other (changed daily). You could even get vegetarian if wanted. I thought it was good but not exceptional. The entertainment was basically the same every night in different parts of the ship. Movies on the Lido deck, casino, comedy clubs, band etc. but by Thursday it was rough seas, couldn't make port for safety reasons (high winds and waves) and it was getting boring even though the ship tried to do different activities. The best was spending time with our friends investigating. Our hats of to all the staff that we met, they were all great but a special shout out to "Stella"!!! She was awesome! Disembarkation was very quick but no problems there. Would we do another cruise? Not in the next couple years, but maybe. Again, it was "okay". Read Less

Upon boarding the ship, it took over 6 hours to receive our luggage only to find that every item had been removed in their search for alcohol (2 of our bags had been checked by TSA). No respect for personal property or an effort to keep things the way they were found. While waiting on our luggage, there was a constant barrage of staff pushing poorly overpriced drinks. We are not big fans of Golden Corral type buffet lines but if that is your thing then this is your place. By the way, no disrespect to Golden Corral, but Carnival can't even come close to them. The food at the Washington restaurant was not only poor, every dinner was flat out disgusting. The steak, mussels, scallops, baked potatoes, fish, chicken and even the pasta was well over cooked and poorly seasoned. It is clear that they have no one checking the quality of what goes to the table. No exaggeration but I have never ordered seafood so dry or steak so over cooked. They did have an option for better quality steak for a nominal fee of $20.00 that 2 people in our party paid to get something decent. Three days into our trip, and after both my wife and I already developed intestinal issues from the food, over half the people in our party contacted the same virus and discussed in previous comments. It starts with fever/chills, severe coughing and respiratory problems, sore throat and green mucus. We are both missing our first days back at work. BTW, medical center nurses didn't clean up room after previous patient and I had to ask her to wear gloves. There was a constant line of people with the same symptoms at the medical center each trip we made and what seemed to be many more guest coughing by trips end. The Casino is extremely smoky and poorly ventilated. We could not stay is it for long periods and ultimately avoided it too. They really nickel and dime you for everything and you are constantly asked for that room card for everything. LAST TRIP FOR US. All-inclusive from now on with free internet and no surprises on your bill at the end. Read Less

First I would like to start off that this cruise blew everything I expected out of the water. From the decor to the amazing staff. My boyfriend and I have never been on a cruise and this was awesome. The lobby bar was the best bar on there. Cherry was the most personable employee there. We talked to her for hours every day and she never made us feel like we were bothering her. Marko was one of the other bartenders who is the life of the party. And both of them make AMAZING drinks. The food was pretty good in the dining room but the steak house went above and beyond. We went back to the cabin with our dessert because we were so full. Every morning we would come out and the crew was always cleaning. The ship was in amazing condition. We got an interior room and the size was perfect considering we barely spent time in there. Our room stewards name was Bob, anytime we left the room we would come back and it was clean with a cute little towel animal. We got the drink package even though we aren't huge drinkers. It definitely saved us a ton of money. Overall I absolutely loved this ship and all of the staff. We will definitely be back on the Valor soon. Read Less

Just horrible. This was my first and last cruise with carnival. Boarding was ok considering the amount of guests. It took over 4 hours for our luggage to be delivered to our stateroom. The worst part of our trip was when we discovered bedbugs on the 4th night of the cruise @ 2am! We were moved to another cabin and they took our belongings to be cleaned and steamed (it took 2 days) for them to return we were comped but this experience ruined our vacation. The food was bland absolutely no flavor and if you make a reservation at the steakhouse its the same menu as the assigned dining room. Which when we booked the trip we requested a 6 pm dinner because of our 2 year old but were given a 815 dinner when we told to speak to the manager were simply told "no" because of spacing. The shore excusions were very overpriced besides costa maya free beach besides that fat tuesdays will be your best option on land, the entertainment on the ship was ok but after 2 days became very repeative and boring. The deck staff were very helpful and constantly offering drinks but the bar drinks were very weak overall this was the worst vacation ever. Save your money! Read Less

My family and I have just returned from our very fun first Cruise! We had a fantastic time. The stateroom was great and the four of us were comfortable in room 8248 (deck 8) with balcony. Embarkation was easy and hassle free, we dropped of our bags and headed straight to the Lido deck for our first lunch on board this amazing cruise line. All staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. We stopped at the following ports, Nassau - Bahamas; St Thomas - US Virgin Islands; San Juan - Puerto Rico and Grand Turk - Turks & Caicos. We did not take any excursions with Carnival as my family and I felt we would get better value for money booking directly at the ports and we were not disappointed. So much do see and do at all ports, I suggest lots and planning and preparation before you set sail. We ate every night in the Lincoln dining room, and we're not disappointed the menu changed daily and we have no complaints. Both of my children attended the Children's clubs and totally enjoyed themselves. I would definitely recommend this cruise line there is entertainment for all and the age range of travellers varies from the young to the old. Great vibes and everlasting memories. Disembarkation was easy, we left our luggage out the night before.., we had breakfast as usual (8.00am) up on the Lido deck.., and we're off the ship by 9.30am. Totally hassle free. Read Less
