This was our second cruise on the Splendor this year we when on the vehicle back in August to the Carb (see my review on that) Getting there was a horror as NYC had bike race outside closing down the West Side Highway and took us extra hour and half to get the pier and park our car. That delay was Godspeed as we check in and where on the boat within 10 minutes and no wait. Which was great. This ...

The Splendor cruise ranked right down near the bottom of my nearly 40 cruises. I'll not blame Carnival for the 'rocking and rolling' caused by weather, they have no control over that. The staterooms were kept clean by the overly syrupy-sweet cabin attendant, but that is to be expected. The food was not good. If they had a Burger King on board, I'd have been happier. The burger I did have on ...

This was by far the worst cruise I have ever taken. It started off bad and ended bad. First of all, I just getting to the ship on October 4th was a hassle. Months and weeks before the cruise, Carnival stated in their emails to plan on boarding the ship between the hours of noon and 3:00pm for a smooth departure. There was no need to board sooner as we would have plenty of time to enjoy the ship ...

Overall the cruise was wonderful---I have always enjoyed reading all the reviews and after 27 Carnival cruises i guess it's time to start speaking up!!! Went on the Splendor 10/4 Canada cruise The ship Splendor is one of those ..you have to do down to go up to one of the restaurants---don't love that! We had and aft extended cabin--wasn't really worth it on this cruise--the cabin is a bit ...

Super nice staff and crew, but quality wasn't as good.

We loved all the staff we came in contact with, everyone had smiles on their faces! You could tell each of them really loved what they did! They made it fun! We were disappointed in the quality of the ship, the condition it was in, and some of the things offered that weren't full quality (like the spa area not working often, the spa suite wasn't anything special like it was advertised, and ...

We planned this cruise for more than a year to celebrate our retirement so we were really looking forward to it. I wish I could rate it better for the sake of the outstanding crew, but it was a bit of a disappointment. Not everything was bad, but the overall cruise was mediocre. It started at embarkation. We arrived at the port around 11:45 and dropped off our luggage without any problems. ...

Well, let's start with the good: food was mediocre, dining room service was excellent when they remembered what we ordered, the casino.....ok so that's about it. Now the bad: there were more canes, wheelchairs and walkers than in a nursing home, with that being said, Carnival should know their clientele and not play Pink or Lady Gaga on the big screen or play nightly Marvel Comics movies. When ...

Not Our Idea of Fun

What is this obsession with fun? And why do Carnival think that loud pop music, gambling and smoking constitute fun? And what is a fun shop? It's just a shop! Perhaps it is just cultural thing because we were Brits on an American ship but we definitely will not be going with Carnival again. The ship is clean and we enjoyed the ports visited but we would no more choose this type of cruise ...

My wife (Cunard-1, Carnival-3 cruises) and I (Cunard-1, Carnival-2 cruises) are 44 and 47 and we sailed without the kids for our 10th anniversary celebration. We drove to New York from the Toronto, Canada area and found cheap ($10 a day) parking at Journal Square (Park'n'Save) in New Jersey which is a dramatic savings from the $35/day that Carnival offers next door. It was a reasonable 60 minute ...
