Carnival was not my first choice, but both Royal Caribbean and Norwegian claimed they were both booked during this Christmas and New Year holiday period. Not the worst ship, but obviously an older ship. Huge diversity crowds with occasional rude people stepping on/over you and in close proximity. Some polite and friendly guests. The crew was attentive and few with limited English skills when it comes to providing directions or instructions. We had problems with Migrino Beach ATV Excursion provider in Cabo San Lucas. We pre-purchased (4 x $100+) ATV rides and was aware we would pay an additional $20 each for entry fees. But, then we were hit with another $30-$35 insurance fee per ATV or given an option to leave an open credit card in case of damage to ATV. We felt the ATV park was taking advantage of tourists. Had no choice but to pay after taking a 45 min ride to the ATV park from ship landing. The 1 - 1 1/2 hr ATV guided tour was fun. Also, be aware of Stone Island and Old Town Sightseeing Tour. Tour van guide was knowledgeable of the city sites, but the beach stop and activities were of poor quality. Water toys and health quality of horses used for horse back riding were questionable. The worst part of the on-board cruise was the fitness center. The equipment that include thread machines, elliptical steppers and bikes are all in need of repair and replacement. Fitness center is in serious need of repair, renovations and HVAC upgrade. Whatever you do, do not fall for the pre-pay wi-fi and bottomless drink plans. Wi-fi connection and ability to text each other aboard ship is almost impossible. We purchased the premier Wi-fi plan to Skype and text with our teenage son at home. We went without e-mail and text messages almost the whole cruise. However, we were able to get e-mail and phone calls when in port and off ship via phone provider. We were told by Customer Service person who admitted there were problems with connectivity on the ship. We were re-refunded the cost of our wi-fi plan after making request. Bottomless Bubbles drink plan is a ripoff. Lemonade, ice tea, coffee, tea and milk are available at no charge. My daughter has never drank carbonated drinks and therefore, did not need to participate in the bottomless drink plan ($7.50 x 7days). Despite the issues that I have written about, the cruise overall was o.k. and worth getting away. But, Carnival should take immediate actions to renovate the fitness center. Read Less

This was our first cruise and a great family vacation all in one. Total 8 adults in our group with 4 cabins. Embarkation was fast and easy, we opted for the faster to the fun upgrade. Once on board we were a little lost, not sure how to charge drinks and just trying to figure out what was Aft and what was forward! Great lunch on the lido deck and a few yummy cocktails made us feel right at home before we even got to our rooms. Our rooms were small, but that was expected, the window size was a nice surprise to me..it was bigger than I had expected! Lots of storage space and a nice desk/vanity area. Only complaint on the room was the amount of electrical outlets, only one in the guest room area and one in the bathroom. Jovana was our steward and she was awesome! So friendly, room cleaned right on time everyday, always a smile on her face and how do they remember everyone's name!! Michelle at the Alchemy Bar kept us happy with tasty drinks every night prior to dinner, it quickly became one of our fav. spots, meeting there with family each night. Our dinner time was 6pm, dinners were always fantastic, almost always in part to our server Sharon! She was the happiest person everyday, truly enjoying her job. She knew us all by name, what our favorite drinks was and for a few of us she even knew what we would order! She helped us to celebrate not only Christmas, but a birthday and an anniversay! She sang and danced along with us making each night a night to remember. I had steak every night and found out the the demi chef Michael cooking my steaks was Sharon's husband! I loved learning that and hearing how Carnival really works with married staff and keeps them together where ever their contracts may take them! Really tells you something about a company when they care about their staff that much. It was reasons like this that this cruise is def. above average! My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful couples massage while on board, I misplaced their names but it was one of the best massages's I have had! Great service, comfortable, and so passionate about what they do! Again kudos to Carnival for keeping employee's happy! We enjoyed the comedian one night, a song and dance review, and love love loved the piano bar, Jeff was amazing and fun! Loved the karaoke bar, they could really use a notebook with songs available, enjoyed all the food, great room service for breakfast. We did early disembarkation and took our own bags, got off really early but missed out on all the long lines! Only cons would be lack of power outlets, really slow internet (so not worth the $$), smoking in the casino, several public area toilets were out of service, and the pools including the adult pool seemed too dirty to use. We chose this cruise because we needed a shorter cruise over Christmas leaving from the West Coast. There are 2 choices - Carnival Imagination or Inspiration. So, not a lot of choices - do you want to leave Sunday? Or Monday? This was once a great, new ship. Now it’s an older ship and much smaller than most ships afloat. It does have a lot of old (I mean 90’s) charm and decor. Public Areas are more compact and the shops, lounges, casino are fairly small. The water slides are very fun and probably great when it’s warmer! The food was ok. They keep a tight reign on the bacon and pass it out at the buffet like it’s made of gold. The burgers & burritos were great choices for afternoon lunching. The at sea “Dr. Seuss Green Eggs & Ham” Brunch is worth $5 charge. It’s super fun - and great for kids. The cabins are dated. There are virtually no balcony cabins on this ship. The decor is old, as are the carpets in the cabins and hallways. I don’t want to bash this cruise entirely. It was fun. It was weird to be gone for Christmas. The dining staff and food was average as was our cabin stewart. The alcoholic drinks are ridiculously expensive and totally NOT worth what they charge. To have a great Vacation. But the food way below good. We only had one Captains dinner. I ask about the 2nd dinner, and was told that xmas dinner was the 2nd. We want to the Steakhouse, and ordered Surf and Turf. But the food was cold and bunt. The soup was watered down. The best meal was the hot dogs from dell at the aft of the ship. The wait staff in the MDR was slow and not very helpful. Half the time our food was cold, or not what we ordered. The Casino was full of smoke, and very poor staff. We ask for help from the Host, Waited over 1 hour for help. We ask for a drink, and had to wait again for that. When we got to are cabin the first day, we ask for ice and two more towels. We got the ice on Monday and the towels on Tuesday afternoon. Read Less

We have done this 3 day cruise 2x now. All in all, fun. Booze Cruise; though I don't partake. Lots to do...plenty to eat; buffets, dining hall. All of it, though mostly fresh, was not that good. Great dining staff, they were all friendly and fun and accommodating. Shows were fun. Casino staff was fun. Now for the not so fun. One outlet in bathroom and one in cabin. We asked and received a power strip. On this trip, the room cleaning service was not good. Trash from past guests and a dirty bathroom counter greeted us. They cleaned it right away and apologized...but then, saw not a little but a ton of mold in the bathroom. I know it's a ship in the water but this was unacceptable. Get some bleach and clean this! Which they did but, eeeeeeeeewwwww...not what I want to see on vacation and it's not healthy to be around. They didn't seem to care much this happened on the ship or after we called when we came back. They gave us minimal on board credit for a future cruise....I just don't see doing this cruise ever again. Again, we had fun, went to shows, gambled, ate, went to Ensenada, played bingo, art auction...etc but the gross cabin infringed on my experience.Uhhh, and that bed, oh man, I was glad to get home...Less towel Elephant, more hygiene. Amazing stops , great fun through out the whole time . Amazing comedians . The cruise director lee really made the trip perfect for everyone no matter your age I even witnessed him stop in his tracks to talk to a lil girl . He kneeled down to her level and had an entire conversation made me tear up thinking of some amazing cruise directors we have had that have truly made Sam a priority before .. chefs table truly still one of the best dinning possibilities on the ship you must try this .. book early . The shows are always a real fun part of the day . Met a very nice woman at dinner her name was Annie , (73) and full of life one of the best dinners we had . Everyone asks why carnival ? Well because if you are o-100 they care and will stop to hear what you have to say . The best story I hear was a couple from paradise , they were called and told that thier trip was going to be completely covered .. amazing we talked to them night after night hearing story after story about the amazing trip .. Thank you I will keep coming back to hear more from others Read Less

Took the 12/13 to 12/16 weekend cruise to Mexico on Carnival Imagination. I have done this trip before and I've always had a good time. The Imagination is an older ship. This is to say that it doesn't have the amenities of the newer ships such as alternative dining or all the extra entertainment options you will find on the new builds. What you will get in return is an uncrowded ship (only about 2000 passengers) and a shower in your stateroom that you can actually turn around in. Sure the rooms don't have a fridge, unless you opt for the suites, but the extra shower room is nice. Breakfast options are abundant: Lido Buffet, Blue Iguana Cantina for breakfast burritos, room service and on sea days the awesome Sea Day brunch. Lunch offerings are Guy's Burger Joint, the deli in the buffet, the buffet, 24 hour pizza pirate and room service. Dinner is the restaurant, deli, pizza pirate, the buffet and room service. I have to admit that I've never ordered room service over the many times I've sailed on Imagination so I cannot rate the service or food quality. Entertainment was good. I have seen Epic Rock more times than I can count and I still enjoy the show. This show has eight singers/dancers who preform songs from Bon Jovi, Queen, Guns & Roses, Aerosmith, Meatloaf, Joan Jett, Journey and others. I always find myself clapping to the beat and cheering the performers. Such a fun time. They also do a show called Divas that features songs by Madonna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Rhianna and others. It is a fun show, but I prefer Epic Rock. All the employees were friendly. Whether it was a bar steward, a waiter or jr waiter, room steward or someone you were passing in the hall. They all seemed happy and were there with a smile and a friendly hello. I've done just about all the tours and sightseeing there is to do in Ensenada. From visiting La Bufadora, to horseback riding, craft beer and wine tasting and the bar hop tour, I've found that the best way to experience Ensenada is just to get out there and walk around. I have limited Spanish vocabulary but have found that many of the people in the tourist areas speak English. Its Mexico so don't be afraid to haggle with the vendors. They expect it and you will end up paying too much if you don't. In my opinion this is a great vacation option. I only had to take two days off of work. What a great way to let lose and relieve stress. If you're looking for a fun, short cruise without breaking the bank, I recommend taking one of the Carnival weekend cruises. Either Imagination or Inspiration. Read Less

Just got off the boat today. This is my 20th cruise (RC, HA, Carnival and Princess Past Cruiser) -Hot Food! Learn it, Everything was COLD This is my 11th Mexican 4 Day. Ive never seen such cold food. Quality's gone down a lot but... the price is cheap... -Music in ALL areas to damn loud In between a comedy show I don't like screaming at the people besides me and my waiter needs a written paper to understand what I am saying its SO LOUD. Took my kid to the Holiday "carol" in the atrium and it was so loud she wanted to leave. There was a show on Tuesday that woke me up in the atrium FROM MY ROOM. (E55) Yikes! Get your sound checked. LOUDER IS NOT BETTER. With that said our room guy was awesome. I couldnt belive they stopped cleaning rooms twice a day I cant belive that Lobster on Fancy Night is gone Trashy people on board: I can NOT Blame Carnival for this. The price is amazing. I literally witnessed a woman try and get money out of the ATM machine....trasshhhyyyy *checked it though she didnt use it*. I loved everything else. MY kids wouldn't shut up, all they wanted was to go to the kids club. The towel animals on deck were awesome. The Dr, Seuss breakfast was amazing. Read Less

Convenient cruise- easy getting form the Long Beach airport to the cruise ship- & used the shuttle as only myself traveling, but if I was with a group would have used UBER to get to & from the ship . I wanted a short itinerary, to determine if I would enjoy solo cruising. Was great being able to have cabin to self, able to do what I wanted when I wanted & how I wanted. Totally enjoyed the sauna, steam room & gym. was well taken care of by my room steward, Supron - always had a full ice container, room cleaned as necessary Did the Chef's table & was impressed by all the food that was fixed & served, Learned many interesting facts about the food, preparation & many ingredients for the many foods that was served to us. Even learned some new things about different herbs & spices to combine with different foods. In Ensenada discovered a great place to go for a massage- Massage & Facial Wellness - within walking distance of the ship- and very reasonable priced, then did a chocolate class at the Maya Cacao- learning how chocolate is made form cacao beans- Did I mention that is all organic & they use the profits to support orphanages in the area Read Less

We did not have our room cleaned the entire trip due to not trusting the housekeeping staff. Unfortunately my husband left his ring on the bathroom shelf. We made a lost report and they have told us three times they could find it. There is no way housekeeping could have missed it. It’s unfortunate they hire liars and thieves to clean your room. I am very disappointed in the staff. The food was average and the 24hour pizza tastes like frozen pizza. The drinks were over priced and weak for the value. The entertainment was average and boring. The comedians they hired was the best part of the cruise. We watched all of the shows they provided. The water slides they had were freezing cold so no one was on them. There were weird smells all over the ship so it made us want to be outside the majority of the time Read Less
