We chose this particular cruise because we wanted to experience Carnival's new ship and at the same time visit some of the ports in Europe we had not seen before.
As we have come to expect from Carnival, embarcation went smoothly, our cabin was ready when we boarded; however, it was our anniversary and I had purchased a package that included decorations, a bottle of wine, a card and chocolates. ...
Had fun, very disappointed about Kusadasi being canceled. This was the main reason we took this cruise. Once cancelled this kicked in the 24% VAT which was not good.
I think crew was looking ahead to New York . Cruise director was very good just had New York on her mind. Best thing about the food was Guy's Burgers. Very very good.
The male singers in the band of shipseas group were ...
Very quiet and smooth sailing. Lovely decor. Paradise 4 kids with the waterpark. The cabin was same as other cruise lines. Variety of food in Carvery was excellent compared to other liners. Just played awefull band stand music from the 50 s over and over and over in the restaurant. That drove us and the staff that works there MAD! The main theatre was a total disaster. There were NO seat in there ...
There were many good things about thiscruise, but definitely things that needed improvement. I have sailed Carnival before.
Pros: Food was good, conveniently located, varied. Tables were cleaned immediately. Cabins were comfortable and clean. Laundry facilities were conveniently located and worked well. The movies and IMAX were great. The sky ride was fun. The exercise facilities, slides and ...
Chose this cruise for the amazing experience in several European ports. The ship is fantastic, I just don't think the staff has worked out all of the service. Jaime Dee the cruise director was the most awesome, entertaining CD I have experienced. I don't know how she has the energy she does. The ship has a lot of entertainment scheduled. The singers/dancers were really bad singers. For a huge ...
long time Carnival cruisers (platinum) but at $6k for this cruise (plus airfare and hotels) we were fairly underwhelmed with the new ship
Dinner in the two main dining rooms were a disappointment - unlike even other cruise ship e've been on, these have the ambiance of a Denny's or Mac Donald - very plain and not what one would expect from the newest addition to the fleet - formica table tops ...
First, let me say that we booked this cruise, and the one following this (9/3 and 9/13 sailings) for two reasons: price and itinerary. So just based on that, this cruise is a winner. The ports are fantastic. When reading other criticisms about the ship itself, I was skeptical ... but many are valid.
But I would like to start with the positives. I love, love, love the electronic, technical ...
We chose this cruise in order to visit Europe for the first time. With only two at sea days, we did a lot of excursions. We did one through Cruise Critic which was excellent. The other excursions were booked through Carnival and had large groups (40+) which meant more waiting but the guides were good.
I most enjoyed the Sky Ride and Thrill Theatre. The water slide area looked very cool but I ...
We chose the Vista as we love to be on new ships and we had a good cruise on the Splendor; Carnival offers a good deal for your money. So much about the ship is exceptional or solidly good; the food in the lido buffets and in the dining rooms was so below standard, that we question if we would ever go on the Vista again, at least in the Mediterranean.
Good points: BEAUTIFUL ship, lots of ...
Itinerary
we missed Kusadasi due to the coup and had an extra day at sea. Sad to have missed it but understand the need to exclude. That aside we loved Rhodes Town, Valletta (Malta) and Messina (Sicily) but beware nothing is open if you're hitting the port on a Sunday. Naples aside, the remaining ports you were docked very far away from town with the need for a shuttle that Carnival were ...
