Very disappointing cruise

The highlight of this cruise was to visit Jamestown, however after only two hours at anchor at St. Helena, the captain set sail for 6 days at sea saying we could not tender in. The ocean was calm but you could see waves crashing against the wharf. I queried why we could have not waited until afternoon to see if the waves would have subsided and his response was that there wasn’t enough time in ...

This South Atlantic crossing disembarked at Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Most guests from US, Canada and Australia had endured the nightmare of obtaining the Brazilian visitor visa prior to the cruise. At the last moment the Brazil government postponed the visa requirement due to the mishandling of VFS Global, the Brazil government visa application agent. This was the most talked about topic amongst ...

We purchased a cruise package that included flights, 3 days pre-cruise stay in Cape Town then a cruise to Rio stopping at Luderitz and Walvis Bay in Namibia followed by St Helena before ending with a day in Rio. The outbound BA flights were fine. The hotel (Cullinan) in Cape Town was good apart from the dinner on the second night which was below par. All the excursions were excellent, well ...

Seasoned Oceania cruisers try out Regent. How did it go? It was an adventure. We are seasoned Oceania cruisers, and seasoned transatlantic cruisers. We booked our own flights and took the transfer from the airport to the Southern Sun and joined the 4 day/3 night precruise. The hotel is fine, in a great location, and the staff could not be nicer. The precruise tour was exceptional, our ...

I’ve read numerous reviews about Regent claiming they have slipped and are no longer a true luxury line. Don’t believe it for a minute! We sailed on the Seven Seas Voyager from Cape Town to Rio and LOVED our crossing. We booked a Penthouse Suite, one of the smaller suites with a Butler, and were totally impressed with the cabin, the service, the food, and yes, even the aging ship which is ...

Cruise fell so far below expectations, frequent cruisers, sailed with Regent several times and normally fabulous but Ship is tired, rooms far from luxurious. Problems from start, transfers from hotel and embarkation absolutely chaotic. We both became unwell by end of first week this was before ship officially announced that they had a serious problem, they said only a few people sick but levels ...

Our flights, pre/post cruise hotels and transfers were all arranged by Regent. On arrival we were informed that we would be notified about embarkation details - but we weren't. On the morning of embarkation, several hundred guests along with several hundred suitcases were all seen milling around awaiting 5 coaches to take us to Seven Seas Voyager. Two of our party of 4 had mobility problems and ...

This was our first Regent cruise, and we selected it based on the itinerary, which covered Southern Africa, a transatlantic leg, and Rio to Buenos Aires. Regent was a favorite cruise line of acquaintances of ours, so we had high expectations. Pre-cruise, I read the reviews from passengers and started to have some concerns. But since the itinerary was so compelling, I set aside the various ...

The activities and events wholly and exclusively on board ship were excellent. The staff / crew were very good, the exceptions being new staff who were still learning their roles but these were few and far between. I enjoyed the food and drink available as part of the all inclusive cost of the cruise and didn't feel the need to spend anything additional. Unfortunately, everything that was not ...
