we booked this as it was in the school holiday and their wedsite said they have a full planned cruise activities for kids as well as 4 kids clubs for all the differnt ages. kids club was closed for most of the trip and we were told sorry they are under staffed. so we were stuck with our kids and all the rest of the boats passengers too. so kids were running and screamming every where. then we were ...
Horrible experience so far. Over crowded everywhere queues for days to do just about anything, including accessing lifts. People are frustrated and impatient and thus pushes in lines and literally fight for space in the pools. Dirty. Cheap food. To top it off our ship is stuck in the Harbour. What a terribly disappointing experience. Stuck for another 3 days hoping to 'cruise to nowhere' instead ...
I spent six weeks travelling through South Africa and decided to return to Europe by cruise. In spring 2023 there were exactly five ships doing this. Costa, Aida, Phoenix and two MSC vessels. Costa visited on the world cruise and no cabin was available. Aida did a fast track through the Atlantic Ocean and mainly visited ports in Europe, in my opinion no attractive itinerary. Phoenix did extensive ...
We travelled on a 30 day “Grand Voyage” from Cape Town to Venice on the MSC Sinfonia in March/April 2023. This is a 3.5 star vessel, and the onboard experience met or slightly exceeded expectations at that price point. The ship is well maintained, and the food entertainment and service are normally good. Note, this ship was cut in two and more cabins inserted. This put a strain on the facilities ...
We chose the cruise because it was supposed to pick us up in Walvis Bay, Namibia and it was a repositioning cruise to Europe. The duration, dates, and destination of the cruise were a perfect fit... we thought. Even though we had written permission from MSC to board the ship in Walvis Bay, Namibia, the ship never showed up. They never contacted us. No letter, no email, no text, no call. We ...
This was our first cruise with MSC and we were super disappointed, especially after the big hype.
To start off, we were clearly instructed to not arrive before our embarkation time, which was 12pm. We got the just before 12, thinking it would be a smooth embarkation. We stood in 3 different queues. For 3 hours. They don’t have any way of stopping those that arrive too early (there were people ...
We went on our dream cruise on the Sinfonia out of Cape Town to Walvis Bay, we left Cape Town 2 hours late the sea was quite rough and we arrived in Walvis Bay 2 hours late and this took 2 hours of our tour of Walvis Bay and Swakopmund I was peeved of as it cost quite a lot for the tour and we had to be back on board by 14.30 to sail at 16.00. We got on our way and arrived back in Cape Town some 4 ...
Choose this as a first time cruise to explore other cruises. Thought that four days from Cape Town via Port Elizabeth too Durban would be a great test of the waters so to speak.
Ended up frustrated at late departure due to high winds preventing scheduled departure. More annoying was the lack of communication from MSC regarding anticipated departure as well as impact delay would make on arrival ...
We and our extended family have travelled numerous occassions with the MSC and had pleasant and fun experiences, but the recent trip with MSC Musica was a disaster.
We've made a few trips with the ship; Meditteranean cruise, Cruise to Maurituis, Durban to Portuguese Island, Cape Town to P.E to Durban. This was the worst trip ever, having to cram the whole journey in 2 days. We were rocking ...
The food was poor compared to previous cruises. The bar service was slow and the quality of the cocktails was inconsistent. The cabins were very comfortable and clean. The embarkation process was a circus. Having been told to get to the terminal early, we were then told to sit and wait. No refreshments were offered and the shore based personnel became fractious and rude.
While the delay in the ...
