Great trip, but you're going to get sick

Review for a South America Cruise on Oosterdam

Good crew, great route, good excursions, good food, but HAL does not protect the health of its passengers. So many sick people by the time we reached the middle of our 31-day cruise. Packed into the mainstage theatre shoulder to shoulder, it was a chorus of sick people coughing and hacking. Both of us got sick for over a week and most of the people we met on the ship were also sick with the ...

So much respiratory illness onboard

On the positive side, the crew are excellent. Cabin stewards, waiters, food servers and front desk attendants are patient, polite and helpful. The food is Ok but not as good as pre-Covid. The lecture/education part of the cruise seems to have been abandoned by Holland America. We used to see it as university-of-the-seas but no longer. Entertainment is also OK but well reduced in quality. One ...

Great 31 day South American cruise

We had a great cruise! This was our second time on Holland America, we've been on several cruise lines including one of those "6 star luxury" lines and Holland is our top 2. The crew is absolutely the best, they are so friendly and always happy and taking care of the passengers. The food overall is very good and even after 31 days we were still enjoying it. We mainly had meals in the main dining ...

Oosterdam... both good and bad.

Holland America Oosterdam 31 night cruise: March 5 to April 5, 2024. This cruise was advertised as including a day of "Scenic Cruising Cape Horn". We made our final payment on Feb. 2. Then, on Feb. 5, we were notified that the ship would NOT be doing the Cape Horn cruise! "For operational reasons". As it turned out, the schedule produced by Holland America is not doable. The Captain told us ...

Tour arranged by Las Adventure was the highlight.

Our cruise was good. This was the longest cruise we've taken, 31 days. Our stateroom was nice. The bed was comfortable, although we did have it joined and there was a line down the middle. It wasn’t annoying though. Maybe if they put a mattress pad on then that would conceal it. We might have been able to get one but I didn’t ask. The pillows were really comfortable. There was plenty of room in ...

A disappointed trip

Review for a South America Cruise on Sapphire Princess

We have cruised many times of Princess. We were very disappointed on this trip. We booked it as a 32 day cruise from Buenos Aires to LA, not knowing that it was two trips. We did expect rough waters but we didn't except not to see Cape Horn, one of the reasons for the trip. We also had a port excluded because of the weather. There were so many extra sea days. The food and entertainment was ...

My husband and i found a fantastic last minute deal on the norwegian star for a buenos aires to antarctica cruise during feb./mar. 2024 (14-nights). being a last minute deal, a family suite was only ~$25 more per night than a balcony room, so we couldn’t pass that up. this was our first time cruising in in a suite on any line. we sailed on the norwegian star last year in a balcony room, and on ...

While we had a wonderful time and felt safe on board, there were a number of areas the cruise line missed the mark: 1. We paid for an upgraded dinner at Teppenyaki restaurant. Of the four people in our party, there was a problem with the meals. Raw chicken was served and two people were served things they repeatedly stated they were allergic to. We even booked it for the first sitting so the ...

Our Best Cruise Ever

Review for a South America Cruise on Sapphire Princess

We have been on 15+ cruises on Princess, Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Celebrity and this cruise was one of our favorites. Actually, I would say it was our favorite cruise ever. We sailed from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Santiago, Chile on a 2 weeks cruise on the Sapphire Princess. The ports of call were good but the highlights of the cruise were the penguins on the Falkland Islands and in the ...

A bad experience

Review for a South America Cruise on Norwegian Sun

We took a 16-day cruise from Buenos Aires with the Norwegian Sun in February 2024. We chose it based on the itinerary and the company's good references. The itinerary was good. The problem was the ship: When we arrived the cabin smelled of cigarettes and bathroom. At night we noticed that there was an unbearable noise coming from the air conditioning. On the second night when we entered ...
