High End Cost Low End Cruise

Review for a U.S.A. Cruise on American Star

My husband and I were excited to celebrate our 40th anniversary on a cruise to New England and because of the internet description we thought American Cruise Lines and the American Star would be a good choice. The cruise dates were September 9th through the 16th. We were disappointed from the moment that we walked on to the boat we noticed that the boat was older and in poor condition. ...

THIS SHIP IS VERY TIRED

We picked this cruise because we'd never been to the New England Islands. The brochure said Providence to Providence. But the dock in Providence was damaged last year and American Cruise Lines is using a very unattractive dock in an industrial area of Fall River. A 40 minute bus ride away. That was just the beginning of problems. We embarked on a Saturday. Our bathroom fan screeched. It ...

Awful cruise and customer services

Review for a U.S.A. Cruise on American Star

We cruised New England in August 2022 on the American Star. It was awful. The worst cruise I have ever taken. The ship is old and in need of much maintenance. We had sewage back up in our shower 3 times. We embarked the ship from a different port than advertised. Had we not been on the pre- cruise exercuion we would have missed the ship, because we wre never informed of the embarking port change. ...

We have cruises with Pearl Seas multiple times and it never disappoints. The crew are delightful. The food is delicious. The itineraries are unique. And we love small ship cruising! We would recommend the Pearl Mist to anyone who loves to be spoiled and is looking for an alternative to big ships. We cruised Canada and New England, Panama Canal, and Cuba with them. The best part is returning to see ...

New England Islands Cruise from Providence, RI

We chose this cruise because we were looking for a quiet, luxurious and relaxing experience. We had high expectations for this cruise due to its high cost (over $12,500 for 7 nights) and extensive marketing. Our first impression was very good. We booked the pre-cruise night in the Renaissance Hotel with the tour of Providence. The hotel was lovely and the service impeccable. The tour of Providence ...

A Great Return To Cruising

Fall Foliage Cruise. Spent an extra day in Boston as it was our first time there. Very interesting city. Bus to Gloucester to board the ship. Only 96 pax instead of the full capacity of 210 pax which facilitated embarkation etc. Very good food and wine and meal service throughout the cruise. Good-sized comfortable stateroom with balcony an extra feature. Even the bathroom was quite good. Good ...

This cruise ship is a must for those who want personal service and not feel like a number. The musical entertainment was very enjoyable and appropriate for the passengers and places we were touring. They also had educational talks about the area we were visiting. The food choices, presentation, size of portions, taste and service in the dining room was excellent, top of the line. I truly enjoyed ...

This was my first time on a small cruise ship. I traveled with my cousin and between the two of us, we have cruised over 25 times. The typical cruises we take are on RCCI, NCL, Carnival and Celebrity. We are also in our mid-thirties and this is a predominantly older crowd. This was a very different experience for us. The ship is very small, with just 5 floors and a handful of lounges. There ...

Staff was excellent. Food was really good and service was outstanding. All personal preferences are quickly accomodated and they will prepare anything you want. Portions are thankfully not overwhelming! Any special dietary needs are always considered without having to remind them. Our waiter, Ronald, was exceptionally in tune to my particular issue. The staff is very patient and understands ...
