Partially due to inclined weather conditions, the cruising part of this trip has been dramatically reduced. Majority of the excursions fall under the side of 'a bit boring' category. Fortunately, we booked the pre-cruise excursion that highlighted the whole experience, otherwise, the river cruise part alone would not earn my praise at all.
While the executive chef made the daily dinner ...
Uniworld packages 3 voyages together as "Ultimate France", this covers week 1.
Bon Voyage has a bistro that you could book for dinner instead of eating in the main dining room.
Housekeeping:- cabin was clean and well maintained.
There were 97 passengers aboard the ship and even though BV was a small ship, it never felt over crowded. About 30 passengers continued onto the next ...
My friend and I shared a room (two twin beds) for the week cruise and had a terrific time.
We spent the first night in Bordeaux at the InterContinental Hotel and boarded the ship the next day. The Hotel is fabulous!
Our quarters were small for two people, but we managed. We were on the top floor and with the "balcony" which was not really a balcony, just a nice window that could be ...

Greetings from AmaWaterways, thank you for sharing your river cruise experience with us! It is great to know that our team was welcoming and helpful during your stay. We are delighted you had...
We recently completed the Bordeaux river cruise with Viking. The overall experience was good, but a couple aspects of the cruise were disappointing.
Firstly, the staff were generally very courteous, professional and well trained. A couple exceptions, but overall excellent service.
The Forseti is a beautiful boat, but the ship was missing a gym, hot tub and bikes. I noticed the Uniworld ...
We chose this cruise as we particularly wanted to see the light show at the old submarine base and also wanted to visit Remy Martin. We also wanted to do several french wine tastings which this cruise also gave us the opportunity to do.
My husband really enjoyed the visit to Remy Martin. The best winery visit was Chateau Lagrange. Very good tour and organised wine tasting. on the other hand the ...
After the Douro, the Seine and the Rhone, the Garonne etc. are a disappointment - ugly brown water (clean apparently) and rather dull landscape - not until you get out into the vineyards does it start to get pretty. Also some of the towns are a bit sad - the back streets of Libourne, for example, are to be avoided - full of beautiful but neglected, derelict houses and weeds pushing through the ...
We were looking for a wine cruise and this one fit the bill. The staff on board went out of their way to make sure we were having a wonderful time. Our luggage was lost for 13 days and the people at the front desk were on the phone daily trying to track it down. We loved our little cabin and Adrian who kept it impeccable. The chef was a hoot but even more importantly, the food was beyond ...
I just got back from the Viking Forseti river ship in Bordeaux. I have been on 5 Viking trips, so far, and have a 6th booked in April. Bordeaux was wonderful in many aspects. Viking staff was great; the chef was marvelous, I feel the best food I have had on Viking so far. Viking staff went over & above in taking staff & Food to Chateau Kirwan and they put on a full banquet in our honor. The ...
We chose this cruise because it was an area of France which we had always wanted to visit. We have sailed once before with Scenic on the Rhine and four times with the sister Company Emerald. We have always been very happy with the service we have received. The cabin was an adequate size for us and was kept extremely clean by our attendant. The food and drinks package was also very good. The ...
The Paris and Loire extension was excellent, well timed, with comfortable and good hotels.
Surprisingly, enough time to do a mini city tour of Paris by taxi (no traffic, Parisians are on vacation in August) and easy restaurant reservations.
Busy at the Chateaus we visited, but our guides whisked us right by them.
Traffic much less than expected, only near Bordeaux somewhat ...
