Not what MSC used to be

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on MSC Fantasia

I booked this shorter Med cruise, to check if standards and general improvement where high on MSC wish list, to my dismay they were not. After a shambolic trip on the MSC Opera from Abu Dhabi to Genoa in may 2023, I tested the so called high calibre of service and quality which the company was aiming for, unfortunately all fallen by the wayside. The embarkation process was swift and very quick, ...

Modern clean ship - very crowded

I've worked on cruise ships a few years ago but this was our first experience cruising as passengers. Good Stuff: 1. Embarkation was straightforward 2. Modern clean ship. 3. Cabin well proportioned and appointed 4. Cabin steward was really nice and always did a great job looking after us. 5. Guest singer in the Carouselle lounge was excellent - I'd look for her again when doing ...

Not What I Expected

I choose this cruise because it was affordable but the food wasn't impressive nor was the service at the Wave Restaurant. I did enjoy the entertainment which was great! However when you cruise the highlight is alway the quality of your food. I did book one of the specialty restaurants which was hibachi style that was quite tasty & entertaining as well. I booked a balcony cabin but it ...

We embarked on 27th October 23 in Marseille. On arriving at 11am at port we were surprised to find the ship wasn't there, our booking only showed sailing at 6pm so a little surprised, however it arrived at 12pm and we checked in Yacht Club desk shortly after and were on board at 1.30pm in time for lunch. Only as we decided not to wait for a butler incase we missed out. This was our 5th Yacht Club ...

MSC Fantasia Review… A huge disconnect

We sold our house in Canada so that we could travel the world by cruise ships. Our intention is that we could see the world, and report to our followers about the great itineraries, and different ships that are available to travel the world. This blog is about the MSC Fantasia. We boarded it in mid October, 2023 in Barcelona. We will briefly cover what we loved, and what we didn’t love, and ...

Cruise OK, Royal Caribbean is next

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on MSC World Europa

New ship. Ports of call. Just another cruise line trying to recover from Covid pandemic. Room was nice. Room serviced well. Ship was clean. Restaurant was nice, but plain. No theme to it. Food was below average overall. Could have been much better. Buffets were very crowded, to the point of annoying. Too many children, but that was ok. No deck to walk all around on outside like most cruise ...

Very Large Ship - Passengers 7,000

Like the Mediterranean cruises. This was our 4th. Itinerary was good. Buffet was sized more for 5,000 people, certainly not 7,000. Buffet was on 2 levels and they would close on a schedule you could not follow. The dining room was good, had first seating by a window with a waiter who made the difference for the better. Food was average. Only had one dinner which I should have sent back. Two nights ...

Smoking!

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on MSC Seaview

SMOKING!!! The stench of cigarette smoke onboard is disgusting. There is meant to be a smoking policy that restricts smoking to the starboard side of the ship and the casino. There is no smoking allowed in cabins of on balconies. Someone forgot to tell the majority of the staff as people were smoking anywhere they liked and the smell was awful. The only time I seen smokers being challenge was ...

Big modern ship, but food was mediocre

Having been on a few cruises in the past, I felt like I knew what to expect from a cruise. However, boarding the MSC World Europa was very different - this ship is huge. It took a while to figure out the layout and how to get to places. But once you got your bearings, it was easy to navigate. My cabin was at the very front of the ship, you couldn't go any farther forward as the cabin was right ...

Lots of pros and cons

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on MSC World Europa

World Europa is a beautiful ship. For its size, I was pleasantly surprised we did NO tendering. Also, you don't wait in as many lines as you might think. There are multiple venues for all types of things to do. I was also pleasantly surprised that the long (11 story?) dry slide was offered without an extra fee. The meals had fancy names in the dining room but were just average. The desserts ...
