"Nickel and Dime" Experience

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on MSC Meraviglia

I've cruised with Crystal, Princess, Norwegian, and Holland America, and without a doubt, my experience with MSC is the worst. Although the fare was lower than expected, transatlantic from Barcelona to Barbados, the "nickel and dime" experience on board, coupled with frequent billing errors, poorly organized shore tours, and poorly managed buffet staff, made the experience unforgettably poor. I ...

Fall color Canadian, back to back cruise Boston to Quebec City and back.

A fall color cruise was a bucket list item. Unfortunately a hurricane stripped trees of fall colors in many ports. Prince Edward Island was damaged. It closed on our first leg but opened for the second. We booked and enjoyed a Green Gables tour even though damage was evident. Tree damage (almost as bad in Halifax and Sidney) didn't keep us from enjoying Alexander Graham Bell's house and the ...

The Pros and Cons of the MSC Meraviglia

Cruise review for MSC Meraviglia 19-day transatlantic cruise from Barcelona Spain to Port Canaveral (9/24/2022 to 10/13/2022) Inside stateroom #8073. Note: we only ate in the Market place buffet because the service in the dining rooms are so slow and the food choices in the dining room are very limited. Note that we spoke to many passengers on this very long cruise that agree with our ...

We booked 2 nights in Barcelona pre the cruise and then a 7 night cruise. The ports of call were Barcelona, Cannes, Genoa, La Spezia, Civitavecchia, Palma De Mallorca & Barcelona. The ship surprised us and we would book MSC again but a couple of things need to improve. The Buffet selection was very good, The pizza was fantastic and we were very pleased with the drinks package selection. ...

First Oasis Class Experience

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Harmony of the Seas

We booked this transatlantic cruise in the depths of the pandemic to have something to look forward to - we never imagined that we'd still be wondering right up until the last minute whether it would go or not. Along with being our very first time on an Oasis class ship, our experience was certainly different due to the very small number of pax on board: approximately 1300 on a ship designed to ...

Amazing ship - amazing cruise

Finally it is cruising time again! And you could feel that vibe all over the ship :-) In advance, we had to deal with a lot of paperwork (PLF for Spain, covid safe ticket, PLF for Italy, embarkation ticket, health quastionnaire, QR-code for covid test before boarding...) It was kind of stressfull. When we arrived at the terminal, we had to show our embarkation ticket at least 5 times at ...

Amazing ship but not quite the suite spot

I booked this cruise mid-pandemic on a whim and got a great deal. As a Brit, it really came down to the wire as to whether we would be allowed onboard due to Italy not allowing UK residents to enter, luckily the rules changed on 1st September so we could finally start to get excited about our first cruise in 2 years! Some of the pre-cruise communications were confusing but it’s a constantly ...

Poor food, sad unfriendly staff and no customer support

First , I tried to contact MSC customer support prior to the cruise. Two emails and two phone call back requests and NO response! Ship was beautiful but food was mediocre at best. Staff was sad looking, not friendly and not helpful. They just stood around looking like sad sacks. When I had an issue and went to the front desk I was met with:someone will respond. No one ever did. Funny, after I got ...

This was my 6th cruise, very first with MSC. I have cruised with Carnival and Celebrity. This ship was so disorganized. Every person you asked had a different answer. The rooms were not cleaned well. The food was TERRIBLE. Not fresh. They sent up wrong breakfasts and one day, no breakfast at all. 3/4 of the staff were rude. The dining room was awful. The first night our table of 4, we ...

I should point out that this was my first cruise although my wife has been on several, including another MSC cruise. We scheduled this cruise about a year in advance and purchased the cheapest cabin available. We figured we would be on excursions everyday and didn't plan to spend much time in the cabin so no need to get a fancy one. We flew from the US to Barcelona two days before the cruise ...
