Disappointment with Holland America

My wife and myself have cruised with numerous other cruise lines and this was our first with Holland American and probably the last. The Captain of the Eurodam was probably the most interactive Captain that were have ever sailed with. We were very impressed with the dining room steward, room steward, and the selection of food. That's about all the positives that I can give this cruise! Photo ...

Started off with a few days in Amsterdam, a great to acclimate to the time zone change. Superb city for walking, everything close proximity to the hotel by Central Station including the Eurodam. Embarkation - took about 40 minutes from arrival to processing to the stateroom on board, where we soon met our room stewards. Didn't see much of them during the cruise, the room was always picked up or ...

This was my first cruise on Holland America so I was excited to try a new ship. As a loyal cruise critic reader I had read that cruise lines had personalities and you needed to match yours to the cruise line. I was surprised when I found that in spite of all the wonderful things about the Eurodam, it just didn't fit my personality. So as I write this review there will be pros and cons. Our ...

Short Summary: A unique itinerary only available during the fall repositioning. Sixteen very enjoyable days on a beautiful ship. We spent several days in Amsterdam before boarding the ship which made for a very memorable vacation. If I could do it all over again I would have spent a week in The Netherlands because there was so much to see and do, but I can only be away from work for so long. ...

First of all, Holland America cruises are usually fantastic. We booked this cruise for the itinerary and were not disappointed. We began in Amsterdam and it was the "Sail In 2010" on our embarkation day - the final of a race? of tall ships. We were taken to a temporary facility as the tall ships were parading around our usual dock. The line to get into the tent went pretty quickly. Once inside ...

This was our second cruise on HAL and will probably be our last one. We left Amsterdam on a nice sunny day, but ended up missing our last two scheduled ports because of Hurricane Earl. The Eurodam is a fine looking ship and its public rooms are very nice and comfortable. The embarkation was tedious, partly to blame was the fact that the ship left from the container terminal because of the Sail ...

My DH and I had a wonderful time on the Eurodam. We are a married couple and are "seniors". This was our first Transatlantic Cruise. We have done recent cruises on Celebrity, Princess and HAL. Celebrity is our favorite with HAL placing second. However, all three lines a very similar and we have enjoyed all the cruises. We flew from JFK to Amsterdam two days early. Since we had already "done" ...

We chose to combine two HAL cruises, both leaving from Amsterdam: one through the Baltic and the other to the North Atlantic and across the Atlantic to Canada with NYC as the final destination. We have traveled on HAL several times; last year we did the Eurodam transatlantic crossing from the States to Copenhagen and enjoyed it very much. We arranged our airfare through HAL. With some small ...
