We decided to take this cruise as we were interested in seeing the tulips in flower, learn more of the water management in The Netherlands, had experienced excellent tour management by Uniworld several times already and because friends we had met on a previous cruise suggested we join them. Expectations were met in all categories.
We had visited Amsterdam briefly after a previous Uniworld cruise; the more time we spent there the more we enjoyed it. A couple of days spent there before this cruise started was well spent.
We enjoyed all aspects of the tour; the itinerary was well constructed and met our expectations as the tulips were in full bloom and we were given plenty of opportunity to learn how the Dutch have managed to live mostly below sea level. The on board staff were courteous and ensured that all aspects from room cleanliness, laundry service, dining room and bar management and tour management were carried out effectively and professionally. The only minor criticism is that the River Queen has a split level dining room which caused some inconvenience. The food was excellent.
Although small, our cabin was well laid out and we managed to live comfortably during the cruise. Not having to "live out of a suitcase" is a great advantage of river cruising.
The cabin was well maintained by the housekeeping staff. Being towards the top of the boat gave us good viewing as we travelled along the river. It also meant that we were close to the foyer, dining room and lounge; an advantage if you have old legs!
