Sail Date: May 2017
Cabin: Deluxe Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

This was my 2nd RC cruise out of Bayonne, convenient not to fly to Florida to board a ship; but I don't think I will choose them again, sad to say. It really has become a nickel, dime AND penny you to death operation with average customer service. Getting on and off was typical. You have to stay focused and hustle through everything -- there is little time to just relax or you miss everything. Obviously understaffed, we didn't meet our stateroom steward until Day 3, he was so overworked up the hall. Guest services and housekeeping did not answer phones not to mention our cabin phone rang mysteriously several times pre-dawn hours. The staterooms and baths are nice; the food is obviously re-purposed throughout the sailing, most good but forget any luxurious dining even in specialty restaurants. Servers rushed our meals, clearing and forcing dessert menus in your face before other table guests were even done their entrees. Forget about a decent steak. My biggest gripe is water and ice accessibility. A crew member in the service area on our deck would NOT give me a bucket of ice although the ice machine was RIGHT there (I was told I had to call room service for which I would be charged $7.95 for ICE DELIVERY!) Really? Nice gouging technique. Poolside bar service was lacking, but over-selling cloyingly sweet slush drinks at top dollar. Also we were constantly accosted to buy seating in the specialty restaurants. Thanks to amazing talent, the shows were good but other onboard entertainment is archaic for the "new modern big ships", The RipCord and NorthStar are not that appealing-- and who needs another wristwatch? -- that's all they have to buy in the shops. But the "we will charge you if you don't keep a reservation" is audacious. What do you get for the original cost, I ask when anything remotely "good" is extra? Exhausting battling the massive crowds, leg splints for walking miles to get anywhere; slow elevators, toilets not flushing, overbearing lifeguards staring at you at the pools. Although I can say, no problem finding a chaise lounge on deck 15 or in Solarium. There is no freedom on this ship, the rules are overly stringent and everything costs extra. The barmen are angry, the rest of the poor staff are exhausted and sad. This line make millions per sailing and they cannot even provide the basics to WOW a passenger, even water, nor is it obvious they take care of their hard-working staff. I felt like I was doing them a favor by being there rather than feeling important like cruise vacations used to be. It's just not my line.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin E1

The cabins are nice, the upgraded bathrooms are nice -- but we were barred from our stateroom while they fixed the shower floors mid cruise. I get it that maintenance is ongoing, but that was odd.

Port Reviews

Bayonne (Cape Liberty)

I don't book excursions off the ship. Most tours are independent and you can get a better price booking them independently.

King's Wharf

King's Wharf used to be FREE to wander around. Now it is all tourist gouging with more and more shops with "Made in China" merchandise and fees to even see the sea (Don't follow the green feet -- they are green because you will spend where it ends -- without travelling into the parishes on your own, which is my choice.
